Gladys Berejiklian wants to tear down historic buildings at Willow Grove and St George's Terraces to make way for her proposed Powerhouse Parramatta museum.

The destruction of these buildings is strongly opposed by the people of Parramatta and after consultation with the local community CFMEU NSW has placed a Green Ban on any demolition work at these heritage sites.

This July we welcomed Suzette Meade from the North Parramatta Residents Action Group to thank the CFMEU Delegates on the Green Ban to save Willow Grove and St George’s Terrace in Parramatta from demolition.

In August we congratulated the NSW Nurses and Midwives Association for supporting the North Parramatta Regional Action Group, the CFMEU and the Parramatta community in our campaign to save Willow Grove and St Georges Terrace from destruction by the NSW Government.

With Covid 19 restrictions meaning holding public meetings, marches and rallies not permitted the communities only form of peaceful protest against the heritage destruction is banners asking for Willow Grove and St George’s Terrace to be saved. This last month weather proof outdoor banners were made and hung but lasted less than a week before Parramatta council after just ONE person made an anonymous complaint removed them.
