The CFMEU NSW Branch has taken tough action over drug charges laid against an official and two organisers.
Upon learning of the charges, the union issued a first and final warning for all three officials.
While the legal processes take their course, all three officials are required to undergo drug testing twice a week, and counselling.
These are measures that go beyond the union’s internal policies around illicit drug use and employees.
The CFMEU argues for the right to fair process for its members in such circumstances, and is applying those same rights to its own employees while sending a very clear message it does not tolerate illicit drug use.
